Frequently asked questions about laser therapy

How does it work?

The treatment immerses the scalp and hair follicles in low level laser light, stimulating cells to boost circulation, increase oxygen absorption, kick start adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production and combat dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It prevents hair loss and encourages re-growth.

Does the treatment carry any risks?

No – low level laser therapy (LLLT) is clinically proven to be a safe and effective solution for hair loss, with no pain or side effects for the patient.

Because this technology uses cold laser energy, it’s safer than sunlight and doesn’t involve any pain or discomfort during the treatment itself. Some may report a slight tingling, but this is simply the result of heightened circulation in the scalp.

When will my patients begin to see results?

The response times to LLLT vary from person to person. However, most start to see a reduction in hair loss 6-12 weeks into the treatment. See the results.

Who does the treatment benefit?

This treatment is designed for patients in the early stages of hair loss, preventing further shedding and recovering the damaged follicles. It’s not suitable for those who are already completely bald.

As a medicine-free and non-invasive solution, it’s also ideal for those who are unwilling or unable to take prescription treatments or transplant surgery. That said, laser therapy can be used as a complementary treatment to other solutions.

How long is each treatment?

Each session is automatically set to 20-30 minutes by the machine. In stage one of the treatment we recommend twice-weekly appointments; always leave at least one day between sessions to maximise the impact of laser therapy.

Who can operate the machine?

Anyone can operate the machine with ease; you simply need to adjust the hood over the patient’s head and start the treatment. The machine doesn’t need to be manned during use – patients can read or watch TV during their session.

Do you offer support?

This technology is extremely low maintenance and easy to operate. However, we provide all the training and support you might need during set up and beyond. If you have any questions about your machine, you can call us on 0113 320 0866
